Definition

Gradenigo-Lannois syndrome is apical petrositis resulting from extension of acute suppurative otitis media or apical petrositis

Clinical features

Gradenigo-Lannois syndrome combines:

  • acute otitis media,
  • ipsilateral retro-orbital pain,
  • and diplopia due to involvement of the abducens and trigeminal nerves at the skull base.
