Definition
Malignant tumor of the spleen arising from lymphocytic cells.
Population affected: young and immunocompromised patients.
Clinical features
Fever, weight loss, malaise, sweats, splenomegaly
Ultrasound
Homogeneous, hypoechoic splenomegaly.
CT
- Hypodense nodular lesions (10-20 HU)
- Very faint enhancement after contrast injection
- Splenic hilar and/or retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy.
Management
Chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Surgical resection in cases of isolated splenic lesion.
Differential diagnosis
Splenic metastases.
