Definition
Thrombosis of superficial veins, notably the mammary vein and the dorsal vein of the penis.
Etiologies for thrombosis of the dorsal penile vein: excessive sexual activity, penile constriction, intracavernosal injection.
Clinical features
- Acute pain
Ultrasound
- Hypoechoic cord thickening the vein
- No Doppler flow
Management
- Symptomatic treatment
- Favorable outcome within 6 weeks in most cases
