Definition
Also called paraovarian cyst
Cyst arising from a remnant of the Wolffian ducts
Clinical features
Often an incidental finding on ultrasound workup.
Sometimes painful in case of rupture or if involved in tubal torsion.
Laboratory findings
None
Ultrasound
Reference, reveals a cyst of extra-ovarian origin:
- Purely fluid-filled, inter-utero-ovarian
- On bimanual palpation: mobilization of the cyst allows it to be moved independently of the ovary
CT
Does not allow characterization of the lesion, only shows a nonspecific adnexal cyst.
MRI
Unilocular fluid-filled paraovarian cyst.
Nuclear medicine
No indication or role
Management
No management if asymptomatic.
