Definition
Hemorrhagic infiltration of the bowel wall most often caused by coagulation disorders, anticoagulation, Henoch-Schönlein purpura, or Hemolytic-uremic syndrome
Clinical features
Variable abdominal pain
Mild signs of peritoneal irritation
Progressive obstructive syndrome
Laboratory findings
Coagulation workup +++
CT
Circumferential wall thickening, spontaneously hyperdense
Infiltration of the surrounding fat
Reactive peritoneal effusion
+/- upstream bowel obstruction
