Definition
Tumor-like malformation composed of tissues normally present at this site but with abnormal arrangement.
They are composed of a central cartilaginous component (chondroid hamartoma), surrounded by fibrous and fatty tissue.
Hamartoma is the most common "benign tumor" of the lung (80%) and accounts for 8% of solitary nodules.
Clinical features

The hamartomatous nodule has well-defined margins and measures 1 to 4 cm. Calcifications may be seen as small foci or larger "popcorn" calcifications. The periphery of the nodule is often less dense, containing areas of fat-equivalent attenuation.
