Definition

Inflammation of the gastric mucosa

Clinical features

Most often asymptomatic; otherwise, nonspecific symptoms such as abdominal pain

CT

- Hypodense wall thickening related to submucosal edema
– Thickening of the gastric folds (hypertrophic gastritis)

The submucosa therefore appears hypodense, while the mucosa shows abnormally intense enhancement after injection of iodinated contrast material.
