Definition
Compression of the trigeminal nerve or of the acousticofacial bundle during its cisternal course in the cerebellopontine angle.
Clinical features
Hemifacial spasm: compression of CN VII, or trigeminal neuralgia (CN V)
MRI
3D FIESTA sequence: allows visualization of the neurovascular conflict, which should occur at a right angle.
This conflict most often occurs at the proximal portion of the cisternal course.
