Definition
Most common benign parotid tumor
Clinical features
Middle-aged adult.
Parotid mass, most often painless
Nelaton's sign
Occasional facial nerve palsy
MRI
Lobulated parotid lesion:
- T1 hypointense with areas of marked T2 hyperintensity (myxoid component)
- Complete or incomplete capsule, hypointense on T1 and T2
- Intense but progressive enhancement (type 1 curve)
- Diffusion hyperintensity with elevated ADC
- Dynamic contrast-enhanced study: type A enhancement pattern favoring pleomorphic adenoma
