Definition
Malleus head fixation is the congenital and most classic form of attic fixation.
Attic fixations were described by House and correspond to fixations of the ossicular chain to the walls of the tympanic cavity with ankylosis of the chain. They are of:
- inflammatory origin (tympanosclerosis),
- post-traumatic origin,
- or congenital origin (malleus head fixation).

Diagnosis by non-contrast temporal bone CT with thin sections and multiplanar reconstructions.
