Definition
Certain organs are reversed, or a normally midline organ becomes lateralized and vice versa.
May be associated with numerous malformations and agenesis (cardiac, pulmonary, splenic, abdominal)
Clinical features
Cardiac malformations are often symptomatic
Ultrasound
In cases with a family history, prenatal ultrasound may be performed
CT
Asplenia and polysplenia are common.
Abdominal organs may be located in the opposite side of the abdomen.
Differential diagnosis
Situs inversus:
In this case, all organs are inverted.
