Definition
Tunica albuginea rupture: loss of continuity of the tunica albuginea (testicular tunic)
Traumatic context
Clinical features
Severe pain.
Hydrocele.
Ultrasound
- Discontinuity of the tunica albuginea
- Loss of sphericity of the testicular contour
- Outgrowth on the surface of the testis corresponding to testicular parenchyma herniated through the discontinuity
- Assessment of testicular vascularity, particularly of the herniated parenchyma (risk of necrosis)
- CEUS: discontinuity of the tunica albuginea and assessment of testicular parenchymal enhancement
Management
Formal surgical indication for repair of the tunica vaginalis.
