Definition
Common breast pseudotumor in young women
Clinical features
Soft nodule
Radiography
Mammography:
• Round or oval opacity, +/- dense, homogeneous, with regular or polylobulated margins
• Circumferential or partial wall calcifications
• Single or multiple, unilateral or bilateral
Ultrasound
Key examination - Typical appearance: anechoic lesion with well-defined margins, thin regular wall, and posterior enhancement. - Atypical appearance: differential diagnosis with a markedly hypoechoic solid tumor = fibroadenoma with hyaline degeneration, breast cancer, or cancer developing within the wall of the cyst
MRI
Not indicated.
Homogeneous signal: hypointense on T1 and hyperintense on T2 without gadolinium enhancement
