Definition
Pathological evolution of the labyrinthine bone toward the formation of spongy osteolytic areas
CT
Early stage: radiolucent area at the anterior part of the oval window
Progressively extends around the oval window and the round window
May extend to the otic capsule
Severe forms: "double ring" sign and halo sign around the cochlea
May involve all portions of the labyrinth up to the internal auditory canal
