Definition
Cystic (or cavernous) lymphangioma of the vulva is a benign tumor composed of dilated hypodermic lymphatic vessels, lined by endothelial cells and separated by a fibrous stroma containing lymphoid aggregates.
This is an extremely rare location for cavernous lymphangioma
Clinical features
Vulvar "mass" or "nodule", most often unilateral but may also be bilateral.
Consider the diagnosis of cystic lymphangioma in case of recurrence of a "Bartholin cyst" after treatment.
MRI
Reference examination
Cystic lesion of the vulva, with pure fluid signal, multilobulated.
No contrast enhancement after IV contrast injection.
Allows precise mapping of the extent before surgery.
Differential diagnosis
Bartholin gland cyst.
