Definition
Well-defined, round or oval fat accumulation adjacent to the suprahepatic portion of the inferior vena cava (
in more than 90% of cases located in the inner wall of the IVC at or just above the confluence of the hepatic veins.
On inspiration, an angle forms between the IVC and the diaphragmatic crus, allowing a fragment of fatty tissue to shift into a groove of the IVC, which, due to a partial volume effect, mimics an endovascular lesion)
Clinical features
Uncommon (< 0.5% of abdominal CTs in adults). Asymptomatic
