Definition
Partial or complete tear of the ligament of the femoral head (formerly known as the ligamentum teres)
Clinical features
Hip pain, locking.
Risk factor: trauma, competitive sports
MRI
Analysis is more accurate with MR arthrography, on coronal, axial, and oblique axial planes.
Normal ligament: continuous, regular, and hypointense.
Degenerative ligament: thickening and moderate hyperintensity, with or without irregularity.
Partial tear: intra-tendinous fluid-like hyperintensity, interruption and distortion without complete tear.
Complete tear: fluid-like hyperintensity with complete tendinous strain
