Definition

Extra-axial cystic formation located on the medial aspect of the temporal lobe, developing within the choroidal fissure.

Clinical features

Often asymptomatic.
May be a cause of temporal lobe epilepsy.

CT

Well-circumscribed, hypodense formation located in the medial temporal lobe, which may exert mass effect on the hippocampus.

MRI

FLAIR: signal suppression of the rounded formation located in the medial temporal lobe.
Gadolinium: no contrast enhancement.

Differential diagnosis

Arachnoid cyst - intracranial
