Definition
Fluid-filled cavity arising from the renal cortex.
Clinical features
Often asymptomatic, incidentally discovered on imaging.
Ultrasound
Rounded, anechoic, homogeneous formation with posterior enhancement, regular well-defined margins, and a wall less than 1 mm thick.
CT
Homogeneous, hypodense rounded lesion.
MRI
T2: homogeneous hyperintensity.

Differential diagnosis
Atypical renal cyst, renal cell carcinoma.
