Definition
Rare condition that occurs more often in patients at risk for vascular thrombosis, or as a complication of orchiepididymitis, trauma, or rarely after inguinal hernia repair.
Clinical features
Pain
Ultrasound
B-mode: poorly defined hypoechoic area, or geographic map-like pattern.
Power Doppler: decreased signal.
MRI
On a semi-urgent basis:
T2: crescent-shaped hyperintense area, bordered by a hypointense rim, not enhancing unlike the adjacent pulp.
