Definition

Pseudotumor resulting from intravascular organization of a thrombus, or more rarely from re-endothelialization of an extravascular hematoma, described by Masson under the name "intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia."

MRI

Superficial lesion of the head, neck, trunk, and fingers

Heterogeneous mass on T1 with hemorrhagic areas of high signal intensity

On T2, peripheral high signal intensity. The signal varies depending on the age of the lesion:

  • hyperintense relative to muscle up to the third week
  • then progressive decrease in signal over the following 3 weeks

Heterogeneous, peripheral, and septal enhancement after injection. Non-enhancing avascular areas = thrombus

Differential diagnosis

Neurogenic tumors, vascular sarcoma
