Definition
Peritesticular and intravaginal effusion
Most often idiopathic, it may be reactive to a testicular condition (infectious, tumoral, etc.)
In children it is physiologic up to the age of 1 year and corresponds to persistence of the processus vaginalis
Clinical features
Enlarged, non-tender scrotum with transilluminable content
Management
Surgical ligation of the processus vaginalis in children and resection or plication of the tunica vaginalis in adults
