Definition
Small round cell tumor of neuroectodermal origin (PNET = Primitive Neuro Ectodermal Tumor)
Clinical features
Occurs in 90% of cases between 5 and 30 years of age.
Pain, swelling, compressive signs.
Fever is a poor prognostic sign.
Any bone may be affected, but metaphyseal involvement of long bones (femur, tibia, humerus) and flat bones is preferentially observed.
Epiphyseal involvement is exceptional.
Metastases are often pulmonary.
Radiography
Poorly defined osteolysis, cortical destruction, soft tissue mass and massive periosteal reaction, lacking specificity
