Definition
Glial tumor with intraventricular development.
Preferential supratentorial location in adults and infratentorial location in children.
It arises from the ventricles following the supraventricular arrest of the V4.
Clinical features
- Variable depending on the location of the lesion.
CT
- Calcified intracerebral mass.
- Supratentorial hydrocephalus.
MRI
Specifies the intraventricular location of the lesion. Most typical appearance:
- T1: hypo- or isointense depending on cystic appearance
- T2: hyperintense
- T2: hypointense hemorrhagic foci
- Gadolinium injection: heterogeneous enhancement
- Assessment for dissemination via CSF
These tumors have a soft tumor appearance.
Assessment for subarachnoid metastases in the basal cisterns, convexity sulci, and spinal subarachnoid spaces.
Differential diagnosis
- Cerebral glioma.
