Definition

Lesion with a fibroblastic center surrounded by elementary lesions of fibrocystic breast disease and adenosis

It constitutes a lesion with carcinologic risk

Clinical features

No clinical manifestation

Radiography

Stellate lesion with a radiolucent, spiculated center

Ultrasound

Very often, normal findings on ultrasound.

Otherwise:

  • Heterogeneous, contrasted image with irregular margins
  • Marked posterior attenuation

MRI

Architectural distortion without a true mass, with variable enhancement

Management

Excisional biopsy to avoid missing a cancer

Differential diagnosis

  • Tubular carcinoma
  • Postoperative scar
  • Post-traumatic sequela of infection and necrosis
