Definition

Focal dilation of the renal artery with loss of wall parallelism, usually at the bifurcation of the segmental arteries.

Preferential location secondary to flow-related stress at this site.

May be associated with hypertension, atherosclerosis, or Fibromuscular dysplasia.

Clinical features

Predominantly asymptomatic.

Hypertension

Management

Often conservative management.
Endovascular treatment usually not feasible due to the location (origin of the segmental arteries).
